6.7 Cummins Turbo

6.7 Cummins Turbo Upgrades

Direct-fit VGT replacements, single turbos, add-a-turbo and compound kits for the 2007.5-2024 Ram 6.7 Cummins.

Every turbo upgrade that fits the 6.7 Cummins, in one place. Whether you are replacing a worn-out factory VGT, chasing lower EGTs and stronger towing power, or building toward 1,000-plus horsepower, this page covers the full range of DPS turbos for 2007.5-2024 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. Each option is built on the proven Holset HE-series or BorgWarner S-series platform and is matched to your truck's model year and power goals.

Which 6.7 Cummins Turbo Is Right for You?

Pick your path by what you need to fix or how much rear-wheel horsepower (RWHP) you want:

  • Replace a failing factory turbo: A direct-fit VGT replacement restores spool, exhaust brake and drivability. Stock to 650 RWHP.
  • More power, factory fitment: A larger-wheel VGT or a single turbo upgrade adds airflow and lowers EGTs while keeping a clean install.
  • Compound power on a budget: An add-a-turbo kit keeps your factory turbo and adds a large atmospheric turbo for compound performance at a lower cost.
  • Maximum power: A full compound turbo kit supports 550 to 1,200-plus RWHP.

Failing 6.7 Cummins Turbo? Start Here (VGT Replacement)

The most common turbo problem on the 6.7 Cummins is a worn factory variable-geometry turbo (VGT). The factory Holset unit (HE351VE on 2007.5-2012, HE300VG on 2013-2024) controls boost with movable vanes driven by an electronic actuator. Over time the vanes and actuator stick, a condition known as Stuck Turbo Syndrome. Common signs include loss of power or limp mode, sluggish spool, a weak or non-working exhaust brake, and trouble codes such as P003A, P2262, P226C, P00AF and P0299.

The fix is a new VGT with a pre-calibrated electronic actuator, so there is no calibration needed after install. The DPS HE300VG replacement turbo drops into the factory location on 2007.5-2024 trucks, keeps the exhaust brake, EGR and emissions equipment, and is available in factory-size 60mm, 63mm and 66mm compressor wheels. Each 1mm of added wheel size is worth roughly 10 RWHP and lower EGTs, and the larger wheels typically last longer because they run with more headroom.

Single Turbo, Add-A-Turbo and Compound Options

When you want more than a factory-style replacement, DPS offers three upgrade paths for the 6.7 Cummins:

  • S300 Single Turbos and S400 Single Turbos: A larger BorgWarner-platform single turbo replaces the stock unit for stronger towing, more power and lower EGTs in a clean package.
  • Add-A-Turbo Kits: Keep your factory turbo as the high-pressure stage and add a large S400-based atmospheric turbo. Compound performance at a lower price, with a future path to a full kit. The 2007.5-2018 add-a-turbo kit is emissions compatible and keeps the factory exhaust brake.
  • Compound Turbo Kits: A complete twin-turbo system with both turbos, manifold, piping and hardware included. Supports 550 to 1,200-plus RWHP. No custom fabrication required.

Also consider Ball Bearing Turbos for faster spool, and a high-flow 6.7 Cummins Exhaust Manifold to support higher airflow on performance builds.

6.7L Cummins Turbo FAQ's

A worn factory variable-geometry turbo, known as Stuck Turbo Syndrome. The actuator and vanes stick over time, causing lost power, poor spool and a weak exhaust brake. The fix is a new VGT with a pre-calibrated actuator.

Loss of power or limp mode, sluggish or inconsistent spool, a weak or non-functioning exhaust brake, and trouble codes such as P003A, P2262, P226C, P00AF and P0299.

It depends on your goal. For factory fitment with more power, a 63mm or 66mm VGT replacement. For a bigger jump, a single turbo. For compound power, an add-a-turbo kit or a full compound turbo kit supporting up to 1,200-plus RWHP.

The VGT replacements and the 2007.5-2018 add-a-turbo kit retain the factory exhaust brake, EGR and emissions equipment. DPS does not sell emissions delete components.

Factory-style VGT replacements support stock to about 650 RWHP, single turbos extend that range, and compound kits support roughly 550 to 1,200-plus RWHP depending on configuration and supporting mods.

The lineup covers 2007.5-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500. Select your model year at checkout, and contact DPS to confirm fitment before ordering.
