HE300VG Replacement Turbo for 6.7 Cummins | 2007.5–2024 Ram 2500/3500 | Stock, 63mm, and 66mm Options
The Diesel Power Source® HE300VG replacement turbocharger is a direct bolt-in VGT turbo for 2007.5–2024 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 6.7L Cummins engine. This turbo drops into the factory location, maintains all OEM functions including exhaust brake and warm-up, and includes a brand-new pre-calibrated electronic actuator so there's no calibration needed after installation.
Available in three compressor sizes to match your power goals. The stock-size HE300VG handles up to 400 rear-wheel HP for trucks at stock power or mild tuning. The HE363VG (63mm) and HE366VG (66mm) use larger forged milled compressor and turbine wheels to move more air, reduce backpressure, and support higher horsepower builds while maintaining factory drivability and VGT function.
Select your exact model year at checkout and DPS will configure the correct turbo and actuator for your truck. Trucks from 2007.5–2012 originally used the Holset HE351VE, while 2013–2024 trucks use the HE300VG. DPS builds the correct configuration for your year so it bolts in and works with your factory systems.
Why the Factory 6.7 Cummins Turbo Fails
The factory Holset VGT turbocharger on the 6.7 Cummins uses an electronic actuator and a set of movable vanes inside the turbine housing to control boost pressure across the RPM range. Over time, soot buildup causes the vanes to stick, the actuator motor wears out or loses calibration, and the bearing assembly develops play from heat cycling and high mileage. Common symptoms include slow throttle response, reduced boost, excessive black smoke on acceleration, turbo lag, inoperative exhaust brake, and VGT actuator fault codes.
Because the actuator and turbo are so closely linked, a failing actuator can mimic turbo failure and vice versa. This DPS replacement turbo includes a brand-new electronic actuator (not remanufactured) that is pre-calibrated and ready to install, eliminating one of the most common repeat-failure scenarios where a new turbo is installed with an old actuator that fails shortly after.
Which Turbo Size Should You Choose?
| Turbo Option | Compressor | Max HP (Rear Wheels) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| HE300VG (Stock) | Stock compressor & turbine | ~400 HP | Stock replacement, daily driving, mild tuning |
| HE363VG (63mm FMW) | 63mm forged milled wheel | ~550 HP | Moderate tuning, towing, 12% more power than stock |
| HE366VG (66mm FMW) | 66mm forged milled wheel | ~700 HP | Performance builds, aggressive tuning, 15–16% more power than stock |
The 63mm and 66mm options use larger compressor and turbine wheels compared to stock, which increases airflow while reducing exhaust backpressure. This means more power, lower EGTs, and better efficiency under load. Both upgraded sizes maintain full VGT function, exhaust brake capability, and factory drivability.
Tuning note: The stock-size HE300VG requires no tuning after installation. The 63mm and 66mm options benefit from tuning and supporting modifications to take full advantage of the increased airflow and to keep EGTs in check at higher power levels.
HE351VE vs HE300VG — What's the Difference?
The 6.7 Cummins used two different factory VGT turbo models across its production run. The HE351VE was used on 2007.5–2012 trucks, and the HE300VG replaced it on 2013–2024 trucks. Both are variable geometry turbochargers with electronic actuators, but the HE300VG uses a more compact housing design and updated vane geometry.
You don't need to know which factory turbo your truck originally had. When you select your model year at checkout, DPS configures the correct turbo and actuator assembly for your specific truck so it bolts in and works with your factory emissions equipment, exhaust brake, and warm-up functions.

- Slow throttle response or noticeable turbo lag
- Reduced boost pressure under load
- Excessive black smoke on acceleration
- Inoperative or weak exhaust brake
- VGT actuator fault codes or turbo position errors
- Whining, grinding, or unusual turbo noise
- Oil in the intake or intercooler piping (bearing failure)

Yes. Select your exact model year at checkout and DPS will build the correct turbo and actuator configuration for your 6.7L Ram. Trucks from 2007.5–2012 originally used the HE351VE, and 2013–2024 trucks use the HE300VG. DPS configures the correct assembly for your year so it bolts in and works with your factory systems. Note: 2019–2024 Cab & Chassis models (Ram 3500/4500/5500) are not compatible.
Yes. Every DPS HE300VG turbo includes a brand-new electronic VGT actuator that is pre-calibrated and ready to install. No calibration or programming is needed after installation. The actuator is not remanufactured.
All three options bolt into the factory location and maintain full VGT function, exhaust brake, and emissions compatibility. The stock-size HE300VG supports up to approximately 400 rear-wheel HP and requires no tuning. The 63mm (HE363VG) uses a larger forged milled compressor and turbine wheel that increases power by approximately 12% and supports up to 550 HP. The 66mm (HE366VG) increases power by 15–16% and supports up to 700 HP. The 63mm and 66mm options benefit from tuning and supporting modifications to realize their full potential.
Yes. This is a direct-fit VGT replacement designed to work with your OEM emissions equipment and exhaust brake. The pre-calibrated actuator maintains full VGT vane control for both exhaust braking and warm-up functions.
Typical actuator failure symptoms include slow throttle response, reduced power, turbo lag, black smoke, and an inoperative exhaust brake. If the VGT vanes are sticking from soot buildup, you may see similar symptoms even with a functioning actuator. Because the two components are so closely linked, DPS includes a brand-new actuator with every turbo to eliminate both potential failure points in one replacement.
For the stock-size HE300VG, no tuning is required. If you choose the 63mm or 66mm option, tuning and supporting modifications are recommended to take full advantage of the increased airflow and to keep EGTs in check at higher power levels.

Sweet Upgrade
I recently installed the HE360VG on my 6.7 Cummins, and loving the performance. The boost is smooth, and the power is noticeably stronger compared to the stock turbo. It feels like it’s built to last. The only minor issue I encountered was during installation; aligning the actuator correctly took a bit more time than expected. Once I figured it out, everything went together perfectly.
